via Mashable! by Lauren Indvik on 12/7/10

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was denied bail by a London court Tuesday afternoon and will remain in custody until a second court session on December 14.

Assange was arrested by UK police at approximately 9:30 GMT this morning on warrant from Sweden, which has accused Assange of various sex-related crimes allegedly committed in August 2010, including one count of unlawful coercion, two counts of sexual molestation and one count of rape.

Assange said he would resist extradition to Sweden for further questioning, The New York Times reports.

WikiLeaks has vowed to continue releasing cables despite the arrest. The next batch is scheduled for release later this evening.
